Agrocentre Saint-Rémi opened in 1970. Partnered with the multinational C-I-L, it was exclusively dedicated to the manufacturing and distribution of fertilizers.
Fertibec was launched in 1979 in the municipality of Sainte-Martine. The company became specialized in fertilizers. Upon joining the company in 1983, Daniel O'Donoughue introduced pesticides, corn seeds, grains and soybeans to the range of products distributed.
In 1993, Jean-Luc Yelle partnered with Mr. O’Donoughue and took charge of the administration of Fertibec until the 2001 merger of Agrocentre Saint-Rémi and Fertibec to create Agrocentre Fertibec as we know it today.
In 2003, Richard Adam joined the board to take over from Mr. O’Donoughue and pursue the development of the company with Mr. Yelle

In December 2007, the vegetable seed distribution activities of Semences BC were integrated into those of Agrocentre Fertibec under the name of Seminova (www.seminova.ca).
